Objective:

To create an instantaneous reward and recognition to all scouts of all ranks and position for noteworthy conduct and achievement.  Policies and procedures are set forth herewith to explain this meritorious system.

  • Every scout is issued a leather necklace to be worn at all scout functions whether in uniform or not
  • The Scoutmaster and/or Assistance Scoutmasters will be responsible for the awarding and distribution of any and all beads
  • All decisions by the Scoutmaster and/or Assistant Scoutmasters will be final
  • Beads can be earned for the following criteria:

    Individually

    Active Member of Troop 174                                CLEAR

    Attendance at Summer Camp                              GREY/BLACK

    Holding Position of Troop Leadership                    CREAM

    Perfect Meeting Attendance-Month                        PURPLE

    Perfect Month Attendance + Monthly Outing           WHITE

    Earning Scout of the Month                                  GREEN

    Earning Two Merit Badges in One Month                TEAL

    Special Weekly Bead Award                                 ORANGE

    Participation in a Non-Requisite Service to Others   SILVER

    Doing a Good Turn                                             GOLD

          Collectively

          Best Patrol tent site during an outing/event           RED

          Most Patrol spirit (chosen anytime by SM)              RED

          Best tent during an outing/event                          BLUE

          Best campfire skit during an outing/event              BLUE
