1.2
Food Deposit
A food deposit,
usually between $5.00 and $7.00, will be given to the patrol leader at least
one week in advance of the campout. The food will be purchased, and if
additional funds are required, the balance of the food cost will be paid on or
before the day of departure for the campout (there are times when the money is
collected after the event). Each Scout
will be expected to take a turn in assisting the patrol leader with the
purchase of food for the patrol. The food deposit will only be refundable, if
the parent of the Scout in charge of purchasing food is notified before the
food is purchased. The last day to receive a refund will normally be the
Wednesday before the campout (or before the food is purchased).
1.3
Transportation
Each patrol will be
responsible for making arrangements for their patrol member's transportation to
and from all events, including campouts. This may be as simple as ensuring that
each Scout will have a seat in a car of an adult that is planning on attending
the event. Each parent will be encouraged to do their share of driving to
and/or from campouts. Each Scout will be
assessed a charge for gas for each activity, based on mileage. The fee for gas
will be collected by the scribe or by an Assistant Scoutmaster at the start of
each trip and normally ranges between $1.00 and $3.00. This fee basis does not
apply to high adventure trips. Scouts whose parents provide transportation to
and from an event will not be assessed a gas charge.
1.4
Patrol Duty Roster
For each camping trip the Senior Patrol Leader
and Patrol Leaders should appoint Scouts to be responsible for the following
duties:
* Cook: Prepares meals, washes utensils
and cookware used for meal preparation.
* Assistant Cook: Assists cook as
requested, prepares pot of water for dish washing, supervises meal cleanup.
* Meal Cleanup: Washes pots, pans and
utensils used to prepare meal.
* Fire: Care for and prepare equipment
used to cook on and refuel if necessary (insures camp stoves are operational
and clean, appropriate fuel is available - propane fuel cells or white gas),
establishes axe yard, gathers wood if necessary and builds fire.
* Water: Insures enough water is
available for drinking, cooking and washing.
For hiking trips insures that a water filter or other means to purify
water is available.
* Site Cleanup: Responsible for
organizing the cleanup of the campsite.
Insures all trash is picked up and properly disposed of (carried out if
necessary). Opens and closes latrines as
needed.
The use of the Patrol Duty Roster at the end of this procedure is encouraged
for each campout.
